Predefined, Nonstandard Library, and User Defined
DC-DC Converters
The "Predefined" page in CMDS allows the user to specify an existing Micro, Mini or Maxi DC-DC converter. Vicor offers over 120 base models, comprising 4 input voltage ranges, 8 output voltages, and 3 package sizes. For each base model, 5 different environmental grades, 3 different baseplates, and 2 pin styles can be selected in any combination.
If your required input range is 18-36V, 36-75V, 180-375V, or 250-375V, a Predefined model may fit your requirements. There are discrete output voltages available from 2-54V; however, Micro, Mini, and Maxi converters have extremely wide output trim capability. Any voltage between 1 and 52V can be realized through trimming.
There are no nonrecurring engineering (NRE) charges associated with a Predefined model; so this is an extremely cost effective approach to your DC-DC conversion needs. Predefined models are available in standard lead times.
If no Predefined model will meet your requirements, Vicor’s "Nonstandard Library" of designs numbers over 140 (and growing) unique electrical models. It is worthwhile checking to see if one of these designs will meet your requirements. If a suitable design exists, the user can choose the required pin, baseplate and grade options, and generate a part number. There is a $1500 setup charge for a copied design. Standard lead times apply.
If a Predefined or Nonstandard design doesn't meet your needs, the "User Defined" page offers a revolutionary approach to designing with DC-DC converter modules. Through the use of a proprietary expert system, a flexible product platform, and highly integrated and automated manufacturing, the user can specify a completely custom Micro, Mini, or Maxi DC-DC converter and verify its feasibility in real time. Input voltages can range from 18 to 425V (with a high:low ratio of up to 2.1:1). Output voltages are continuously selectable from 2 to 48V, and output power can range from 20 to 500W.
There is no cost for using CMDS to design a DC-DC converter, and there is no limit to the number of designs that may be examined. There is a nonrecurring engineering charge for each design ordered. Contact Vicor for NRE charges and lead time.
